An investigation continues after a shooting in the 2200 block of Jackson Street Thursday night. Police responded to the house after the homeowner reported he had shot an intruder trying to break into his house.

Officers arrived to find the apparent burglar outside the home around 10 p.m. reportedly suffering from a single gunshot wound to the groin.

“Yes he was shot in the midsection,” said Commander Eric Protzman.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of what police described as moderate injuries.  No formal charges have been filed in the case, pending further investigation.

“Nobody was taken into custody last night because we are looking at it as the homeowner acted in self-defense at the time,” Protzman said “We’re investigating it further to determine if that information is accurate.”
