A St. Joseph man is facing a felony charge for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

42-year-old Richard Cross is charged with felony first-degree domestic assault stemming from an incident Sunday around 1:45 p.m. in St. Joseph.

“The victim stated she was in fear for her safety and stated the abuse was ongoing and this wasn’t the first time he assaulted her,” said Officer Eric Powell with the St. Joseph Police Dept. “The defendant has a criminal history in the state of Texas reference child endangerment.”

Cross is being held without bond in the Buchanan County Jail.  An arraignment is set for Friday.
