The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man after a foot pursuit Tuesday afternoon.
Col. Bill Puett said the incident started as a domestic situation between a man and a woman in a vehicle parked along I-29 at the 38 mile marker shortly after 3 p.m.
“Two police department officers were heading to training in K.C. and pulled up to see what was going on,” Puett said. “The man ran from the vehicle and ran into the field.”
Puett said the St. Joseph Police Officers called in the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department. Investigator Chris Brinton with the Drug Strike Force and Sgt. Scott Babcock responded. Puett said the two tracked the 24-year-old Kansas City man several miles through the field to the west of the highway where they then took him into custody.
The investigation continues.
