A 16-year-old has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Skylar Powell last month in midtown.

The Buchanan County Juvenile Court announced Wednesday that charges have been filed in connection with a death reported on May 18, 2016. A sixteen-year-old boy is being detained after being charged with a class A felony of murder in the second degree.

As we previously reported, Powell was found dead May 18 in a parking lot near 22nd and Frederick.

The next court hearing is scheduled for June 22, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Division 4.

Because it’s a juvenile case the court said it is unable to release the teen’s name or picture.
