The Platte County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle accident involving a 2012 white Toyota Scion on Jones-Meyer Road near Baker Ridge Circle at 12:34 Friday afternoon. The passenger of the vehicle, a 70 year old female from Leavenworth, Kansas, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a 27 year old male from Leavenworth, Kansas, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was traveling west on Jones-Meyer Road when it left the roadway, became airborne and struck a large tree.

The accident is being investigated by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team. The names of the vehicle occupants are being withheld at this time to allow for family notification.
