Man allegedly arrested after foot chase in Brown County

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department arrested two people Friday after a resident lost a dog.

According to Sheriff John Merchant, around 8 p.m. Friday a deputy on patrol on 75 Hwy was notifying a local resident that their dog had gotten loose and wandered on the highway.

“While assisting the residents, the deputy became suspicious of a vehicle in the area and upon checking the license plate, found it to be stolen out of Woodard County Iowa,” Merchant said. “The male driver took off on foot.”

Merchant said Kansas Highway Patrol, Nemaha County SO, Sabetha PD, Sac and Fox PD and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks assisted in locating and arresting the driver, Allen J. Wright 33 of Sioux City, IA without incident.

Wright was booked in the Brown County jail on charges of Felony Obstruction and Possession of Stolen Property–  Wright also has a Woodard County Iowa Warrant. Nelitta Taylor 35 of Sioux City, Iowa who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested on a charge of Felony Obstruction.
