A St. Joseph kid will have her artwork featured in next year’s KCP&L calendar.

10-year-old Aubrey Markt received an honorable mention prize in the KCP&L 2016 Safety Coloring Contest for her drawing. Aubrey’s picture, featuring the safety theme “don’t mix water and electricity,” will show up in the KCP&L 2016 – 2017 Safety Calendar.

KCP&L said children under the age of 12 submitted drawings to show how to be safe around electricity. Safety themes included not overloading outlets, call before you dig, and do not play near electrical equipment. The public voted on KCP&L’s Facebook page to select a winner.

All 16 pictures are featured in the 2017 KCP&L calendar.

“Finding new ways for our customers to learn about safety is always priority, that’s why we launched our first annual Safety Coloring Contest,” said Derek Bell, KCP&L senior director of Corporate Safety. “Aubrey’s picture is colorful and imaginative, which makes it engaging and informative for all ages. The 2017 calendar is a great way to display the art and give a monthly safety reminder to our customers.”
