Authorities have identified a woman who died in custody of the Platte County Sheriff’s Office last week. Authorities say 50-year-old Emma Lewis was found in medical distress in the back of a transport van. Officials say she had been in the van for an approximately five-minute transport.

Public Information Officer Captain Erik Holland said last week that lifesaving efforts were attempted but Ms Lewis could not be revived. Holland says she lived in the Platte City area.

Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen asked that the Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigate the death. That investigation continues.
