The St. Joseph Mustangs’ struggles on the road continued Sunday at Nevada as they lost to the Griffons 8-7.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball falls to 1-3 on the road this season. They’re now 12-5 overall and 8-5 in the MINK League.
The Mustangs blew two three-run leads Sunday as they scored three in the first, but gave three runs back in the bottom of the inning.
St. Joseph built a 6-3 lead in the fourth inning, but gave up three more runs to Nevada in the bottom of the fourth.
Nevada tied the game 7-7 in the fifth and took the lead for good with a single run in the sixth inning.
Louis Mele, Brady Anderson and Clayton Risch had two hits each for the Mustangs, while Orencio Fisher and Kyle Uhrich each scored two runs.
Jonathan Lynch suffered the loss in relief as he gave up the run in the sixth inning, but St. Joe starter Michael Lydon-Lorson struggled. He allowed seven runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings of work.
The Mustangs continue their seven-game road trip Monday with a doubleheader at Sedalia. The first pitch of game one is at 5:00 p.m. and both games will air live on 680 KFEQ.
