A Mound City man remains behind bars awaiting a court appearance Tuesday on charges of manslaughter stemming from a crash Friday that killed a 75-year-old man.

Prosecutors on Saturday filed one count of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree, a Class-C felony, against Robert Brandon, 64, who remains behind bars. A judge set bail at $75,000.

As we reported earlier, a crash report said Brandon turned left in front a vehicle driven by Russell Neiderhouse of Oregon, Missouri.

The crash was reported at 11:22 am Friday along Route-N near at Route-HH. In court documents, a state trooper says Mr Brandon smelled of intoxicants and failed two field sobriety tests at the scene. A breath test revealed Brandon’s blood alcohol content was .129% about two hours after the crash.

Mr Neiderhouse was rushed by air ambulance to Mosaic Life Care, where he died from his injuries at about 12:40 p.m. Friday.

Brandon’s first court appearance is scheduled Tuesday, June 21, at 2pm before Holt County Associate Circuit Judge William S. Richards.
