The St. Joseph Mustangs took an early lead against Carroll Friday night inside Phil Welch Stadium and cruised to a 10-4 non-league win.
St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 17-7 this season and they remain 12-7 in the MINK League.
The Mustangs scored four runs in the first inning and added five in the third as they built a 9-1 lead for starter Colton Kenagy.
Kenagy struggled with his command as he walked six and hit two other batters, but he grinded through six innings to get the win. He allowed three runs and just two hits.
Jacob Richardson, Kyle Uhrich, Jacob Hurst, Louis Mele and Jake Alu had two hits each for St. Joseph, while Uhrich hit his fourth home run of the season and drove in three runs.
The Mustangs get back into league play Saturday as they host the Branson Nationals inside Phil Welch Stadium. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN 1550.
