I-229 back open after police emergency

wp-1467051425224.jpgInterstate 229 is back open after being shutdown for a police emergency.

The St. Joseph Police Department shutdown the interstate around 1 p.m. between U.S. Route 36 and Highland Ave.

Capt. Jeff Wilson said the closure was due to a 43-year-old man who was threatening to jump off of the bridge.  Around 1:38 an officer was able to safely get the man into a patrol vehicle.

“He’ll be transported hopefully for evaluation and will hopefully get the help he needs,” Wilson said.

The interstate reopened around 1:30 p.m.
