An Elwood, Kansas man was killed Saturday night in a crash on I-229 north of St Joseph. The crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says Brett Devling, 34, of Elwood, was driving north on the interstate at mile marker 11.6 shortly after 7pm Saturday when his vehicle crossed the median and hit a semi in the southbound lanes head-on.

The semi came to rest off the west side of the roadway on top of Devling’s vehicle.

Mr. Devling was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
