Two hurt in ATV crash

MSHP patch
Two people were hurt, one of them seriously, in an ATV crash in Mercer County early Monday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the pair were riding the ATV at a high rate of speed when they entered a curve along Brant Street in the town of Mercer at 12:20 a.m. Monday. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and ejected both men.

The driver, Timothy Bombgardner, 26, of Springfield suffered serious injuries. Passenger Benjamin Stark, 27, of Mercer suffered what were described as minor injuries.

According to the patrol, alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

Both were transported to Harrison County Community Hospital for treatment.
