A man has been charged after a crash last week in St. Joseph.
James R. Scott, 28 was charged Friday in Buchanan County with a felony of resisting arrest.
According to court documents on June 30 around 1:49 p.m. investigators with the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force tried to stop Scott in a 2004 Ford F-250 in the area of N. Belt Highway and Genefield Road for traffic violations.
“The defendant fled the area and would not yield to emergency equipment,” said Investigator Stephen Clark with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department. “The defendant disregarded multiple traffic laws, which cause him to crash into another moving vehicle after disregarding a stop sign at Ashland Avenue and Summit Avenue.”
Clark said Scott stopped after the crash and was taken into custody.
“It is believed he fled from investigators due to his revoked license,” Clark said. “The defendant has two active non-extraditable warrants from two other jurisdictions.”
Scott is being held in the Buchanan County Jail on $10,000 cash only bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 19.
