Several rounds of storms are in store for the area this week as an unsettled weather pattern develops over the Central U.S. Showers and storms will move into the area this evening with isolated strong to severe storms possible over far northwest Missouri and Northeastern Kansas. Additional showers and storms will then be possible through late week with heavy rain also becoming a concern as a front stalls over the region. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 101. Breezy, with a south wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. 

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m. Low around 72. South wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. 

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7 a.m. High near 88. Heat index values as high as 96. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. 

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
