A flash flood warning is in effect util 9:15 a.m. today and a few rounds of thunderstorms are expected. The first, currently ongoing, is producing strong winds over much of eastern Kansas and western Missouri. Winds have been ranging from 45 to 55 MPH. The next round of storms is expected late this evening across northern Missouri with large hail and damaging winds possible. A third round will be possible tonight with the main threat being damaging winds. With several rounds of heavy rain today flash flooding and river flooding will also be possible. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 101. South southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
