As storms push into the area the City of St. Joseph has canceled its morning swim lessons and delayed pool opening.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for a large portion of the area until 2 p.m. Damaging winds, lightning and heavy rainfall is predicted.

The city said for safety measures all 10 a.m. swimming classes were cancelled and the pool will not open until 3 p.m., weather permitting
