Lydon-Lorson leads Mustangs to 3-0 win against Branson

riggertMustangsThe St. Joseph Mustangs snapped their three-game MINK League losing streak with a 3-0 shutout of Branson Friday night inside Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 28-12 this season and 19-12 in the MINK League, while the Nationals drop to 2-31.

Mustangs’ starter Michael Lydon-Lorson threw a gem Friday as he struck out nine batters in eight scoreless innings to improve to 3-0.  Matt Diaz earned his second save of the season as came on and threw a perfect ninth inning.

St. Joseph scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings.  Orencio Fisher and Davey Casciola scored on wild pitches, while Brady Anderson had the only run batted in with an RBI ground out that scored Connor Bacon.

The Mustangs play another game against Branson Saturday as they host the Nationals at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.
