The St. Joseph Mustangs earned their third consecutive victory Sunday as they won at Chillicothe 10-4.
St. Joe’s summer collegiate baseball team improve to 30-12 this season and 21-11 in the MINK League. The Mustangs are now in second place in the North Division, a half game behind Sedlia and a half game ahead of the Chillicothe.
St. Joseph fell behind 4-1 after two innings Sunday, but they scored nine unanswered runs to pull away from the Mudcats.
The Mustangs scored two in the third to pull with one run and then they scored five runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-4 lead. They added two more in the eighth for insurance.
St. Joe pounded out 16 hits as seven different players had mulit-hit games. Orencio Fisher went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI, while Kyle Uhrich had two doubles and two RBI and Connor Bacon also drove in two runs.
Logan Jacik started for the Mustangs and had the longest outing of his career. He threw eight inning and allowed three earned runs on seven hits. Jacik struck out four and walked two as he allowed only three hits after the first inning. He is the third consecutive St. Joseph starter to go eight innings.
The Mustangs remain on the road Monday as they play at Joplin. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m.
