Mustangs, Raya lose pitchers duel at Chillicothe 1-0

riggertMustangsThe St. Joseph Mustangs dropped their second consecutive game Tuesday night as they lost at Chillicothe 1-0.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team is now 30-14 this season and 21-13 in the MINK League.  The Mustangs are now in third place in the North Division, three game behind Sedalia but just a half game behind Chillicothe.

Mustangs’ starter Osvaldo Raya threw a complete game but suffered the loss.  He allowed a sacrifice fly in the third inning and that was the only run allowed in the game.  Raya allowed six hits as he struck out two and walked three batters.

St. Joseph only had five hits on Tuesday as Orencio Fisher, Jacob Richardson, Louis Mele, Jeremiah Figueroa and Ozzie Rodriguez each had a single.

The Mustangs return home Wednesday for a doubleheader with Nevada.  The first game begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be the completion of their suspended game from July 6.  The game will start in the top of the 10th inning with the score tied 9-9.  Game two will begin 30 minutes after the opener and both games will be broadcast on 680 KFEQ AM.
