Roger Lee Chatman, Sr., 61, Rushville, MO, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, after his heart slowed him into a calm, forever sleep. An endless amount of support was given throughout his heart transplant journey. The combined hope and love wasn’t enough, and the Lord called him home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Luke’s Heart Institute and may be left in care of the funeral home.
He was born December 14, 1954, in Spray, NC, the son of Carl P. and Norma (Slimmer) Chatman. His mother raised him through the Shannon Hill Grade School, Rushville Elementary School and Atchison High School. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Goodpasture on September 23, 1972, in Atchison, KS, then moved to Rushville, MO, in 1989.
He was a hard-working man of many trades, and was known to help and teach others. Although he worked at Carnation, as a maintenance man for 20 years, he had a car lot, remodeled homes, fixed radiators, fixed and painted cars, and much more. He enjoyed his retired years outdoors with his family fishing, four wheeling, Harley riding, cooking, giving advice, and just enjoying his four children and twelve grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn and mother Norma. His children and their families include son, Roger and Heather (Reese) Chatman with Zander, Kaylee, and Kelsey; three daughters, Beth and Tony Baker with Garrett, Levi, and Andrew; Brenda and Jake Perry with Shianne Chatman, Morgan and Jacob; Bridgett and Heath Baker with Montana, Madison, and Heath, Jr. all are of Atchison, KS, Brother, Carl “Bud” Chatman, and sister Paula Clem.
Deceased siblings include Jane Torrez and Daniel Chatman.

Jack G. “Cody” O’Donnell
1934-2016

ODonnell, Jack obit photoJack G. “Cody” O’Donnell, 81, Lewis & Clark Village, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016.
He was born August 12, 1934 to Harold and Martha (Schmaltz) O’Donnell in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Class of 1952, Cody was a graduate of Central high school and later of Gard’s Business School where he earned an Associate’s Degree.
He married Bette Thompson on July 13, 2006.
Mr. O’Donnell proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired as a conductor for Burlington-Northern after 40 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 359, St. Joseph Outboard Motor & Yacht Club, United Transportation Service and Progressive Democrats.
Cody was a big outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Beverly O’Donnell.
Survivors include his Wife of 10 years, Bette O’Donnell; children, Daniel O’Donnell (Sandee), Sheri Noll (Warren) and Denice O’Donnell; stepsons, Cory Thompson, Shane Thompson (Jamie) and Shawn Thompson (Carrel); four grandchildren, Chris Beard, Chaela Fox, Mallory O’Donnell and Hannah O’Donnell; seven step grandchildren, Tanner, Conner, Kenlea, Brent, Shaina and Cameron Thompson; and five great grandchildren, Ezrah, Laingston and Theodora Beard and Weston and Wyatt Fox.
Farewell Service 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. She was born November 7, 1928 in Keota, Iowa.
She loved her family, her cats, flowers, and sports. Her lucky number was number 7.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mabel Clendening.
Survivors include daughter, Pamela Fostek (Greg); son, Gary C. LaFollette; granddaughter, Ticia Donaldson (Brent) and their children, Blayke and Riley Wilson; grandson, Micheal Armes (Tina) and their children, Brina, Brady, and Brennen Armes; granddaughter, Jamey Armes and her son, Brody Huff; grandson, Gary C. LaFollette, II; and her extended family at Diversicare.

Shirley (Vey) Reid

She was born November 13, 1934 in Maysville, Missouri.
Shirley married Robert G. Vey, Sr., May 1, 1954 who preceded her in death in 1971. She married Robert Lee Reid, Sr. on March 20, 1976.
She a worked at American National Bank for twenty-five years as a teller and in government bonds before retiring.
Shirley was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, preparing fresh vegetables from the garden, and traveling.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Zallie and Nelle (Carter) Reece; son, Timothy C. Vey; and brother, Porter “Verlin” Reece.
Survivors include husband, Robert L. Reid, Sr.; son, Robert Vey (Linda); daughter, Sheryl Vey; grandchildren, Amanda Simpson, Lily Vey, and Tim Saulan; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Emily Simpson.
