Wrong-way driver killed in highway crash

KHP logoThe Kansas Highway Patrol says a motorist was killed after driving the wrong way on an interstate highway and crashing into a semi head-on.

According to the crash report, 33-year-old Christopher Frank of McFarland, Kansas, was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-70 in Wabaunsee County near the town of Paxico at about 2:16 a.m. Sunday. The patrol says construction had reduced traffic to just one lane along the interstate.

Frank’s pickup was hit head on by a semi in oncoming traffic. The driver, Delphia Baynes of Statesville, North Carolina, was treated for possible injuries at Topeka’s Stormont Vail Healthcare. A passenger in the sleeper compartment was not injured.
