MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State University head men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum has announced the Bearcats 2016-17 schedule. The three-time defending MIAA regular season champions will host 15 games inside the friendly confines of Bearcat Arena where the team went 13-0 last year.
The eight-game non-conference schedule begins in St. Joseph, Mo., on Friday, Nov. 11 against NSIC foe Upper Iowa. Two days later, Northwest will face Wayne State College on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The Bearcats’ home opener will take place on Thursday, Nov. 17, against the defending NCAA Division II champions Augustana University at 7 p.m. After a trip to Denver Colo., to face Metro State, Northwest will play a pair of home games against Lake Superior State (Nov. 23) and Concordia-St. Paul (Nov. 26). The other two non-conference games for the Bearcats will be on Tuesday, Dec. 13, against Missouri Valley College and on Dec. 31 against Simpson College.
Northwest will host 10 MIAA contests starting on Monday, Dec. 5, against Missouri Western. On Dec. 10, the Bearcats will host Central Missouri. After the holiday break, Northwest will play home games against Missouri Southern (Jan. 5), Pittsburg State (Jan. 7), Nebraska-Kearney (Jan. 19), Fort Hays State (Jan. 21), Emporia State (Feb. 9), Washburn (Feb. 11), Lindenwood (Feb. 23) and Lincoln University (Feb. 25).
