The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 22-year-old Deveontay Bell also was charged Sunday with felony child abuse resulting in death. He is jailed on $500,000 cash-only bond.
Police were called to Bell’s home Friday. The infant was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say an autopsy revealed liver laceration and tears to other organs. The medical examiner ruled the injuries were consistent with being struck in the abdomen.
