Quite a scare at the Western Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center Friday morning.

Prison officials alerted the Missouri State Highway Patrol that there was a man walking the grounds of the WRDCC with a gun. State troopers alerted the St Joseph Police Department and officers converged on the Faraon Street entrance.

Within about five minutes, officials reached the man, who they described as “cooperative.” He was carrying an antique gun.

We have no reports of any shots fired, or any injuries.
