Earthquake shakes western Kansas

Hays Kansas earthquake image from USGSThe U.S. Geological Survey reported a minor earthquake Wednesday north of Ellis.

The USGS reported the magnitude 3.5 temblor, which occurred at 7:12 a.m., was centered 4.3 miles north of Ellis.

According to the USGS, a quake of that strength results in weak to light shaking.

On August 31, an earthquake registering 3.2 on the Richter Scale was centered four miles northwest of Ellis, according to the USGS.
