Shooting suspect pleads guilty

A St. Joseph man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a fatal shooting in his garage.

Lonald Ueligger Sr. pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter, admitting he shot Perry Smith in the head on June 24. The shooting happened at Ueligger’s home in the 2900 block of Dover.

Judge Daniel Kellogg scheduled sentencing November 1 at 2pm. The charge carries a five-to-fifteen year prison term upon conviction.
