Two people from Excelsior Springs, Missouri were killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Clay County.

A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says Zachary Jordan, 22, was driving along Route H near Northeast 100 Street at 3:42 pm when he failed to negotiate a left turn.

His car left the right side of the roadway, struck a sign, went airborne and hit a tree. According to the crash report the vehicle then overturned and came to rest in a pond.

Jordan was killed in the crash, as was his passenger, Andrew Selby, 19. Both were prounounced dead at the scene of the crash.
