A St. Joseph man is charged with having sex with a young girl over the course of two years. Investigators say the girl gave birth to a child last year at the age of 15, but they say the sexual relationship continued for several months after that.

Jonden K. Williams, 27, of St. Joseph, is charged with statutory rape.

Williams is due in court for his first appearance October 28.

In court documents, investigators say they received the initial complaint in April of 2015. The victim gave birth to a baby in November of last year, according to a court affidavit. The victim told investigators the sexual contact with the defendant began at his house when she was 13 years old, and continued until September of this year.

Court documents say that based on the victim’s written statement and some text-messaging evidence, the defendant fathered the child with the victim.

A judge set bail at $10,000. Williams remains in custody in the Buchanan County Jail.
