Jerry R. Turner
1950-2016

Jerry R. Turner, 66, Weatherby, Missouri passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Cameron Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 28, 1950 in Cameron, Missouri.
Mr. Turner proudly served in the U.S. Navy Seabees.
He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl J. Turner.
Survivors include daughters, Tammy Tipton, and Betsy Haney (Wesley); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; friend, Diane Berney; mother, Delores Turner; aunt, Beatrice Teaney; and numerous cousins and friends.

Shirley Wyeth Bradley
1919-2016

bradley-shirley-obit-photo Shirley Wyeth Bradley, 97, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away in Stuart, Florida on November 6, 2016.
Mrs. Bradley was born in St. Joseph on August 14, 1919 and married David Rall Bradley, Senior, on December 27, 1941. They were married for 47 years before his death in 1988.
Mrs. Bradley attended Noyes Elementary School in St. Joseph, Miss Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and Stanford University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social science. She also received an honorary doctorate from Missouri Western State University.
Mrs. Bradley served as the first woman on the Missouri Western Board of Regents; board director on the Kansas City Art Institute; trustee of Missouri Western Foundation; volunteer for American Red Cross and USO.
She was a member of the Junior League of St. Joseph, First Presbyterian Church, the Benton Club, the Runcie Club, the Women’s Press Club, Pi Beta Phi sorority (Stanford University).
Mrs. Bradley lived a long life of loyalty to her community and enjoyed opening her home to entertain newspaper business colleagues and national public figures. Unknown to most, she provided the means for many young people to attain higher education. She also helped underwrite Missouri Western’s Learning Resources Center and Walter Cronkite Memorial at Missouri Western.
She was the great granddaughter of William Maxwell Wyeth who founded Wyeth Saddlery and Hardware Co. in St. Joseph in 1857.
Mrs. Bradley loved to spend her summers for the last 57 years in Wisconsin at the Wismo Angling Club, Lac Courte des Oreilles, entertaining family and friends. She was an avid bridge and mahjongg player and skilled at needlepoint and painting.
She lived the last 12 years in Sandhill Cove, a retirement community in Palm City, Florida. She was a strong supporter of Martin County library system, especially the Book Mania event.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret (Mitchell) Wyeth; sister Margaret Dale Marshall; brothers, Huston Wyeth II, John Wyeth and William Maxwell Wyeth III.
Survivors include twin daughters, Margaret W. Bradley, Palm City, Florida, and Natalie Campbell, New York, New York.; sons, Henry H. Bradley (Vickie) and David R. Bradley Jr. (Suzanne), of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Farewell services 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 19, First Presbyterian Church, St. Joseph. Private Inurnment Mount Mora Cemetery.

Joanne F. Bernard
1939-2016

unnamedJoanne F. Bernard 77, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday November 7, 2016 at her home. She was born April 19, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of Elsie & Bud Stewart. She attended Lafayette high school, was a member Cathedral Catholic Church and enjoyed playing BINGO. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Tyler Bernard, four brothers and seven sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Bernard (Chuck Leupold), and Karen Bernard, four sons: Rick (Lori) Bernard, Jeff (Donna) Bernard, Tim (Kim) Bernard, and Glenn Bernard, a sister, Sarah Jane, and 10, grandchildren, 15, great grandchildren, 1, great great grandchild. A graveside inurnment service will be held at a later date. She will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Larry R. Jones
1945-2016

unnamedTroy, Kansas – Larry Jones, 71, of Troy, Kansas passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Wathena Nursing & Rehab Center.
Larry was born on May 12, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Orville & Virginia (Williams) Jones. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Larry worked for the Knapp Grocery Store in Troy, the Twombly Grain Company in Troy for several years and most recent worked at the Simpson’s Grocery Store in Wathena.
He was a member of the Troy Christian Church, Masonic Lodge AF&AM#55, American Legion Post #55 all of Troy, the VFW Post #5531, O.E.S. of Wathena, Kansas and Moila Shrine in St. Joseph, Missouri
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Jones of the home;
Sister, Pamela Kostman (Steven) of Troy;
Nephews, Craig Kostman (fiancee Kim Craig) & Corey Kostman(Katie) both of Troy;
Great-nieces; Ellie Kostman, Avery, Adelyn and Ainsley Kostman;
2 aunts, cousins, numerous friends including;
2 special friends, Wayne & Sherry Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 11, 2016
At: Troy Christian Church in Troy.
Visitation: family will receive friends Thursday evening 6-8 PM at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Troy where friends may call after 9 AM Thursday.
Burial: Moray Cemetery – Moray, Kansas where there will be Full Military Honors under the auspices of the Troy American Legion Post#55 and Masonic Committal services.
Memorials: Troy Christian Church, Troy Ambulance or Moray Cemetery.

David C. Phelps
1956-2016

phelps-david-obitpicDavid C. Phelps, 60, St. Joseph, Missouri received his angel wings on Monday November 7, 2016.
He was born in Fairfax, Missouri, to Robert and Margaret (McKenzie) Phelps on November 7, 1956.
David worked in the steel industry for thirty years until his retirement. He was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time at Bob’s garage. He relished his time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret (McKenzie) Phelps.
Survivors include wife of thirty-three years, Janet Phelps; son, Jeremy Phelps; daughter, Christina Phelps; and his joy of life grandbabies, Karson, Kambri and Kipton. Additionally he leaves behind brothers, Bobby (Lahala) Phelps, Rick (Tammy) Phelps; countless other family members and beloved friends.
Dave’s wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 19, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses or donations can be made to The American Heart Association or The Diabetes Foundation. She was born March 17, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri to Bill and Charlene (Garrison) Keck.
Tammy married Tom Kendall on July 14, 1991, he survives the home.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
Tammy was a member of Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Chad Kendall; grandmother, Marjorie Gilmore; cousin, Keith Tipton.
Additional survivors include children, Lindsey (Travis) and Kyler, Savannah, Missouri; parents, Bill and Charlene Keck, Cosby, Missouri; sisters, Tracie Warder (Jay), Teresa Collins (Lester), Chrissie Keck; brothers, Rick Keck (Nicole), Scott Chambers and Rick Brown; mother-in-law, Marge Kendall; father-in-law, Ron Kendall; best friend, Christina Buhman(Lynn).
