MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State University will celebrate International Education Week Nov. 14-18 with a series of activities and events to educate students about study abroad and international experiences offered by the University.

The mission of the week is to encourage the development of programs that prepare Americans to live and work in a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.

“All students need to acquire international knowledge,” Dr. Jeffrey Foot, director of admissions and international affairs, said. “The ability to understand countries and cultures as they relate to or differ from one’s own is an important skillset that students will take forward to adapt and succeed in professional and social settings the rest of their lives. One of the ways international knowledge can be acquired is through attending international education week events.”

Throughout the week, study abroad representatives will occupy an information table on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union during lunch hours. Details about additional events appear below. Additional events include lectures, a cat chat, rangoli sand painting and a movie screening as well as a photo contest.
