Charles L. Martinez
1940-2016

unnamedCharles L. Martinez, 76, Independence, Missouri died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his home.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas, with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Interment of cremains will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 19th from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Parish and may be left in care of the funeral home. Charles was born July 12, 1940 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Jose R. and Julia V. Valdez Martinez. He attended catholic elementary schools in Atchison, graduating from Maur Hill Prep School.
He was employed with the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri for over twenty five years until his retirement.
Survivors include a son, Vinson (Tammy) Martinez, Orrick, MO; a daughter, Tina (David) Byard, Belton, MO; a brother, Emilio “Mil” Martinez, Henderson, NV; two sisters, Mary Salinas, Lee’s Summit, MO; Alice Nester, Lake Charles, LA; and four grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by six brothers, Albaro “Al” Martinez, Jose R. Martinez, Jr., Richard Martinez, Theodore “Ted” Martinez, Felipe Martinez, Phil Martinez, three sisters, Ernestine Flores, Gail Valladras, and Jeanne Martinez Ysquierdo.

Linda Sue Meers
1948-2016

4002075Elwood, Kansas – Linda Sue Meers, 68, of Elwood, Kansas passed away November 9, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care with her family by her side.
She was born January 29, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri. The daughter of Robert and Thelma (Henderson) Meers.
Linda worked at Quaker Oats Company for 36 years and later at Sam’s Wholesale Club. Linda graduated from Elwood High School. Linda was baptized with her brother and sisters at Elwood United Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kathleen and brother-in-law, Jr. Killingsworth.
She is survived by one brother, Mickey Mantle Meers (Karla)
Three sisters, Roberta Killingsworth, Tina Kimberlin and Manina Meers.
Linda never had children of her own but was mother to 10 nephews and nieces. Angie (Craig), Nichole (Jason), Benton (Shelly), Amy (John), Mickey II (Denise), Travis (Amanda), Robert, Sam (Rashelle), Elizabeth and Taylor. Great-nephews and nieces, Gage, Broedy, Piper, Zack, Lexi, Gabi, Bailey, Cade, Tinley, Teagan, Wyatt, Alli, Lauren, Alex, Maddox, Maycee, Hadleigh, Parkyr, Graisyn, Gunner, Cameron, Jaxson, Derrick and soon to be Mickey Mantle III.
Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016.
At the Elwood United Community Church in Elwood, Kansas.
Visitation: 6-8 Friday evening at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas.
Friends may call after 9 A.M. Friday.
Burial: Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy, Kansas.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Noyes home for children.

Donna Zoe Zabel (Hartman)
1939-2016

4642648Donna Zoe Zabel (Hartman) was born Saturday, April 15th, 1939; and passed away Thursday, November 10th, 2016 in Atchison, Kansas. Visitation Sunday, November 13th, 2016, 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Located at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Services Monday, November 14th, 2016, 11:00am. Officiating Rev. Robert Ziegler. Located at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Sharon Mae Vice
1963-2016

unnamedSharon Mae Vice, 53, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 in a St. Joseph health care center. She was born October 1, 1963 in St. Joseph, MO. She obtained her GED from the graduation recovery program provided by Benton High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, and boating. She had a soft spot for animals especially her two dogs, Boomer and Rambo. Sharon was a member of the ROC Christian Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by father, Franklin Guthrie, mother, Sandra Clark, step-father, Howard Clark, three sisters, Ronda Guthrie, Julie Guthrie, and Tanya Guthrie, and a brother, Frank Guthrie. Survivors include, four daughters, Danielle Black, Ashley Vice, Kayla Vice, and Sandra Vice, her companion, Steve Harris, brother, Jamie Guthrie, three half-brothers, Chris Clark, Kevin Clark, and Harry Clark, Half Sister Tiffany (Guthrie) Eaton, five grandchildren: Madisson Clabaugh, Jordan Dakon, Aubryauna Dakon, Caden Dakon, and Boston Vice.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
