An 18-year-old St. Joseph man was bound over for trial Monday on a murder charge in connection with the fatal stabbing of Kaytlin Root at Krug Park last month.
As we reported earlier, Sebastian Dowell was charged with second-degree murder nearly a week after Root’s body was found by a runner off the bike trail at the park October 16.
Judge Keith Marquart scheduled the case for Circuit Court arraignment December 8 before Judge Daniel Kellogg.
Defense lawyer Christopher Belts withdrew a motion to set bond in the case, and said he will refile that motion in Circuit Court. In the meantime, Dowell is being held without bail.
A 17-year-old has also been charged with a class A felony of murder in the second degree. Due to the girl’s age at the time of the offense the charge was filed in juvenile court.
