A fiery crash in southeastern Kansas claimed the life of a 59-year-old man.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Darryl Skaggs of Pittsburg, Kansas was killed in the crash shortly after 8:00 p.m. Wednesday south of Pittsburg on 220th Road. Traffic investigators say Skaggs’ truck left the roadway and went into a ditch.

The truck continued for another 360 feet before hitting a junction box, and then another 77 feet before striking a tree and catching fire.

Skaggs was dead at the scene.
