Fog should clear by noon with temps near 50

weather-1-18With the stratus deck of clouds moving out overnight areas of dense fog have developed across eastern Kansas and western Missouri early this morning. The fog will clear up later this morning, though sub-freezing surfaces early this morning will likely make for some slick conditions for an hour or two after sunrise till temperatures warm back up. Otherwise, expect warmer temperatures more typical of March than January to prevail today and into the weekend with a chance of rain arriving Sunday. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service: 

Today: Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Tonight: Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 35. South southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Thursday: Patchy fog before 1 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Southeast wind around 6 mph.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 39. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: A slight chance of drizzle after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. East southeast wind 3 to 8 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Tuesday: A chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
