A head-on crash in northeastern Missouri Wednesday night claimed the life of a Milan, Missouri man.

A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by John Hanen crossed the center line along Missouri Highway 5 four miles south of Unionville at 8pm Wednesday. The vehicle crashed head-on into a semi.

Hanen, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the semi was identified by the patrol as 35-year-old Mark Phippen of Exira, Iowa. Phippen was not hurt.
