Griffons suffer walk-off loss at Lindenwood Saturday

riggertMissouriWesternST. CHARLES, Mo. – A one-out double in the bottom of the ninth ended Griffon Baseball’s chances of taking a 2-0 lead in a series at Lindenwood (17-14, 10-9) Saturday night.

Missouri Western (15-14, 12-7) led 2-0 after three innings, but gave up three unanswered runs Saturday in St. Charles to lose 3-2.

NOTABLES
– Richard Peoples got the leadoff hitter out in the ninth and was replaced by Kellan Richards after giving up a single to the next batter. Richards surrendered the walk-off double to the first batter he faced.

– For the eighth-straight game, Peoples went seven innings or more, pitching 8 1/3, allowing 10 hits and three runs

– Missouri Western had six hits in the game and left seven runners on base

– David Glaude hit two doubles in the game to move three away from Spencer Shockley’s career record of 48

– Nick Gawley stole his 23rd base of the season and needs seven more to tie Troy Landi’s MWSU single season record

TOP PERFORMERS
– Glaude had his second straight three-hit game, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs

– Dusty Stroup, Andrew Curry and Logan Marston had the other Griffon hits, one apice

UP NEXT
The two teams will play a rubber match for the series Sunday at noon in St. Charles.
