
A Wathena teenager has been charged in connection with a shooting earlier this year in Buchanan County.
William Dowlen, 17 of Wathena was charged March 14 with a felony of unlawful use of a weapon stemming from an incident that took place in January. The Buchanan County Jail shows Dowlen was taken into custody Friday.
According to court documents, Dowlen is accused of shooting a man in his right leg Jan., 22 in the area of S.E. Mt. Zion Road around 1:30 a.m.
As we previously reported, Jan. 22 a 20-year-old St. Joseph man was transported to Kansas City with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg after a large underage drinking party in the area of Mount Zion Road.
Dowlen is currently being held on $25,000 bail. He’s scheduled for an arraignment Tuesday.
