Beverly Nadine Norris
1940-2017

unnamedBeverly Nadine Norris, 76, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 in a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. She was born November 10, 1940 in Grant City, Missouri daughter of the Vera & Delbert Miller. She owned and operated several Thrift Stores, and she also worked at Interserv. She loved sewing, quilting, working puzzles, playing bingo & the lottery. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Patee Park Baptist Church. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence Norris, daughter Christina Mansfield, sisters, Marilyn Mallory and Roberta Kent, and brother, Delbert Miller. Survivors include; daughters, Vickie Sill, Wathena, KS and Tammy Mansfield, son, Harvey Mansfield, St. Joseph, MO, 13 grandchildren: Crystal Parker, Nicole Sill, Carrie Throckmorton, Michael Alvarez, Macklin Fleshman, Josh Parker, Toshia Mansfield, Jayden, JR, Lillian Mansfield, Hope Crossfield, Carlton & Zack Mansfield, 34 great grandchildren, sister, Shirley Whitten, St. Joseph, MO, and cousin who was like a daughter, Fern Marie Miller. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Randall “Randy” Bruce Stowers
1961-2017

4186962_wlppRandall “Randy” Bruce Stowers, 65, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was born December 6, 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa son of Jeanette & Donald Stowers. He married Gayle on May 17, 1997, and she survives of the home. He graduated from East High School, and attended one year of college. Randy worked as a manager with National Beef Leathers in St. Joseph, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports, and he was an avid daily weight lifter. He was a member of the Evolution United Methodist Church. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Donald Stowers. Survivors include wife, Gayle Stowers of the home, mother, Jeanette Stowers, Sioux City, IA, daughter, Abby Jo (Jeffrey) Brown, Fort Worth, TX, sons, Ryan Beach, Caledonia, IL, and Devin Beach, Baltimore, MD, granddaughters, Harper, Kendall, Kenzie, and Larkyn, brother, Ron (Mary Jean) Stowers, sister, Lori (Greg) Tichenor, and his black lab, Tess, and cat, Amber. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. A Memorial Celebration of Randy’s life will be conducted at 6:00 PM Monday, at the Evolution United Methodist Church, 202 West Hyde Park, St. Joseph, MO. He will be cremated under the care direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Robert B. “Bob” Davis
1930-2017

Robert B. “Bob” Davis, 86, of rural Hiawatha, died Friday evening, April 7, 2017, at the Sabetha Manor.
Born October 15, 1930, at St. Joseph, MO, one of two children born to Albert and Ferne Syster Davis. Bob wrote: “After much deliberation, my parents brought me back to the farm home 2 ¼ miles east of Hiawatha where except for brief periods of time, I lived my entire life. I suppose it could be said I didn’t get far in this world.” Bob attended the LaGrange country school for 6 years prior to graduation from Hiawatha High School.
Robert belonged to the Mt. Zion Rustlers 4 H Club of Hiawatha. While in 4 H, he constructed the first terrace on his parents’ farm and won the state soil conservation award. He also accompanied the Brown County Soil Conservation Board as a winner of the Goodyear Soil Conservation award for outstanding work in Brown County. The winners received a weeklong trip to Goodyear’s Litchfield Park in Phoenix, AZ.
Robert enlisted in the 2 BN, 130 FA, Kansas Army National Guard of Hiawatha, as a private, later received a commission and completed training as an army aviator in 1956, where he served for 12 years before being discharged. He started flying when he was 20 and enjoyed this sport for over 53 years and received his commercial license in 1956.
Mr. Davis was a longtime member of Bethany United Church of Christ of Hiawatha where he served on the board, and as consistory president; BPOE #1741, Hiawatha Elks Lodge; the Hiawatha Lions Club; and had served on the Wolf River Watershed Board through the years. Bob loved to help and do for others, especially those in need.
On July 3, 1955, he married Evelyn Crane from Powhattan. To this union two children were born: Greg and Kim. The family farmed and operated a dairy on the same farm east of Hiawatha until he and Evelyn retired. Evelyn survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children Gregory Davis (Diane), and Kimberly Neibling (Gary), all of Hiawatha; a sister Bette Lukert (John) of Sabetha; 6 grandchildren: Ryan Davis, Jillian Hefner (Josh), Cody Neibling, Zach Perry, Allison Jackson (LaShawn), Rachel Henninger (Daniel); and 4 great-grandchildren: Ty Jackson, Makayla Neibling, Neaka Henninger, and Draven Henninger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson Deivid Davis.
A Celebration of Bob’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, at Bethany United Church of Christ of Hiawatha, with Pastor Shane Spangler officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. Military honors a courtesy of Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will meet friends from 6 until 7:30 Wednesday evening, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha.

James Perry Chilcoat
1950-2017

4186964_wlppJames Perry Chilcoat, 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 in Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born January 27, 1950 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Virginia and Lovell “Chili” Chilcoat. He married Barb Mueller on July 22, 1974, and they have shared 42 years together. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Johnson Controls for 38 years. James enjoyed Sci Fi, and was a fan of the Supernatural, Aliens & Big Foot. He also was an avid gamer on X-Box, especially Golf, and enjoyed collecting cast iron miniature statuettes, bowling, pinball, and fishing. He loved his family, and spending time with his grandchildren . He was a practical joker on his family & friends, and had an ornery streak. James was preceded in death by parents, and a brother, Harold Chilcoat. Survivors include, wife, Barb Chilcoat of the home, step mother, Edna Chilcoat, St. Joseph, MO, daughter, Lisa (Mark) Jenkins, Faucett, MO, sons, Perry (Julie) Chilcoat, Agency, MO, Tony (Antonette) Chilcoat, Kansas City, MO, and Brad (Deanna) Chilcoat, Savannah, MO, grandchildren, Nick, Mike, Katie, Amy, Cheyanne, Abby (Big Foot), Malachi, Isaac, and Serena, brothers, Danny Chilcoat (Joyce Meeks), Lonnie Chilcoat, and Steve (Rose) Chilcoat, sisters, Sandy (Jim) Lawrence, Loretta (Danny) Fisher, Helen Linder, Laura (Josh) Stines, sister in law, Vicky Chilcoat, step sister, Sandy (Pat) Wolf, step brothers, Mike (Barb) Young, Paul (Terry) Young, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday with a Memorial Service to start at 2:00 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home.

Francis George “Sonny” Krier
1925-2017

4942703Francis George “Sonny” Krier was born Saturday, May 30th, 1925; and passed away Saturday, April 8th, 2017 in Atchison, Kansas. Visitation Tuesday, April 11th, 2017, 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Located at Becker Chapel Effingham, Kansas. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM with visitation following until 8:00PM at the Becker Chapel, Effingham, Kansas. Services Wednesday, April 12th, 2017, 10:30am; officiating Fr. Benjamin Tremmel, OSB. Located at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Interment located at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery.
