The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team fell to Southwest Baptist, 7-4, on Thursday at Dodson Field in Bolivar, Mo.
Northwest is now 24-12 on the year and 13-10 in conference action. Southwest Baptist improves to 25-11 overall and 15-8 in MIAA play.
Landon Figg drove in two runs, going 2-for-3 with a double. He also scored a run and drew two walks.
Key Northwest Statistics
– Northwest scored one in the first, two in the fifth and one in the ninth. Southwest Baptist had four in the first, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
– Northwest Missouri had four runs on nine hits with two errors. SBU scored seven runs on 13 hits with one error
– Logan Rycraft was 2-for-4, crossing the plate twice.
– Garrett Fort scored once, going 2-for-5 with a double.
– Luke Hassman went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
– Ozzie Adams went 1-for-5 on Thursday.
– James Holler drew two walks.
– Jacob Wagner worked 1.2 innings of relief for Northwest. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks. He struck out one.
– Austin Battaglia pitched scoreless seventh and eighth innings, allowing just one hit. He struck out two and did not issue a walk.
Key Northwest Innings
– In the first, Figg hit a double to left center on a 3-1 pitch. Hassman came up with an RBI single to center to give Northwest an early 1-0 lead.
– With one out in the fifth, Rycraft hit an infield single to short and went to third in a Fort double to right center. After a flyout, Figg singled to center, driving in Rycraft and Fort.
– Rycraft, Fort and Adams recorded back-to-back-to-back singles with two down in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded and Figg at the plate, a wild pitch allowed Rycraft to come in from third to cut the SBU lead to 7-4.
