Eugene “Gene” Francis Miller
1930-2017

Eugene F. “Gene” Miller, 87 years young, of Atchison, Kansas, died peacefully in his sleep on Easter Sunday at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A Parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 19, at 6:00 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Mount St. Scholastica Monastery or St. Benedict Parish and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Gene was born February 20, 1930 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Henry Albert and Irmina C. Schletzbaum Miller. He attended St. Benedict’s School and graduated from Maur Hill High School. He then attended classes at a vocational school in the electrical department and became a journeyman electrician.
He and Mary E. “Beth” Wagner were united in marriage on June 2, 1956, by Fr. Matthew Hall at St. Joseph’s Church.
Gene was employed with Mount St. Scholastica until 1972 when he began working for Schultz Electrical Company in St. Joseph, Missouri as a journeyman electrician retiring at the age of sixty-two in 1992.
He was a member of St. Benedict Parish where he participated at St. Joseph’s Church and was a member of Sacred Heart Council #723 of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the IBEW Electrical Union of St. Joseph, Missouri.
In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, gardening with Beth, bowling, fishing, wine making, mushroom hunting, traveling the country with his wife, spending time with family and friends, attending coffee club at CVS, and he enjoyed time outside “taking care of a bad habit” as he often told his children. He was also widely known as a handy man who was a “fixer” of all things.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Mary E. “Beth” Miller, Atchison, KS; two sons, Phillip (AnaMaria) Miller, Overland Park, KS; Henry J. “Hank” Miller, Merriam, KS; three daughters, Ruth A. (Lee) Eckert, Atchison, KS; Peggy (David) Howard, Leavenworth, KS; Sara Miller, Prairie Village, KS; two sisters, Sr. Irmina Miller, OSB, Atchison, KS; Alberta Prohaska, Atchison, KS; six grandchildren and a large extended family.
Gene was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis Miller, John Miller, Leo Miller and a sister, Mary Cecilia Patton.
The family wishes to personally thank Kevin & Marcy Handke, and Peggy Davis, for everything they did for Dad the last 10 years.

Myrna J. Moore
1940-2017

Myrna J. Moore, 76, King City, Missouri passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at King City Manor, King City, Missouri.
She was born May 15, 1940 to Francis and Marjorie (Danewood) Aubert in Iowa City, Iowa, where she was raised until she moved to Missouri.
She married Billy Moore on June 19, 1959. He survives of the home.
Myrna was a member of TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; and sister.
Additional Survivors include her children, Randy Moore (Pam), Kearney, Missouri, Janece Boyd (Ron), Savannah, Missouri, Garry Moore (Rhonda), Savannah, Missouri and Lynnette Snodgrass (Virgil), King City, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and sisters, Janice Kern, Ravenwood, Missouri and Maxine Carter, Florida.

Helen “Peewee” Marie Gannaway
1954-2017

Helen “Peewee” Marie Gannaway 63, of De Kalb, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at Mosaic life care hospital. She was born January 8, 1954 in Atchison, KS. She graduated from West Platte High School in 1974 then married Floyd Gannaway on March 10, 1973 and they shared 44 years together. She worked in the Tobacco fields in Weston when she was young, then worked at McCormick Distilling, she also worked at Alpha LaVal at the Kansas City Airport. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandkids. She was preceded in death by an infant son, her mother Dolly Bramble, two brothers, John Berryman Jr., and Larry Berryman, and a sister, Mildred “Dee” Wright. Survivors include, husband, Floyd Gannaway of the home, daughters, Janet (Jess) Kenny, St. Joseph, MO, and Deana (Bryan) Smith, Boise, ID, 5 grandchildren: Emmerie, Jordon, and Baylee Smith, and Trenton and Naiton Gannaway, brother, Harold Bramble of Weston, MO, sisters, Peggy Henderson, Booneville, MO, Frances (Kenny) Munsterman, Weston, MO, and Jeannie (Bobby) Munsterman, Weston, MO.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Keith Hoover officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Weston, MO.

Gerald “Gerry” F. Griffin
1933-2017

Gerald “Gerry” F. Griffin, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at a local healthcare facility.
He was born April 24, 1933 to Dorr and Nellie (Bird) Griffin in Maysville, Missouri.
Gerald graduated from Stewartsville High School class of 1951.
Mr. Griffin proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 5th Armored Division and was stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He married Marilyn Joyce Harmann on December 29, 1953. She preceded him in death after nearly 63 years of marriage on November 28, 2016.
He was the co-owner of Madget & Griffin Inc. demolition company for many years and was a member of Community of Christ Church.
Gerald enjoyed his American Saddlebred horses and helping his neighbors and friends. He loved his family.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Kirk, Jesse Lee, Earl, Carl and Jack Griffin.
Survivors include his son, Steven Griffin (Carol); daughter, Linda Carter (Charles); grandchildren, Bailey and Blair Griffin and Christian Carter; sister-in-laws, Sharon Hamann, Sharon Sue Hamann and Betty Griffin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Farewell Services 3:00 P.M. Friday, Abundant Life Center Community of Christ Church. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Denton, Kansas – Jesse Miles Hamilton, 61, of Denton, Kansas passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home.
Jesse was born on April 12, 1956 in Highland, Kansas to George & Gertrude (Adkins) Hamilton.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy, Kansas. Jesse worked for MGP Ingredients of Atchison, Kansas as a Material Handler.
Jesse married Sheryl Arnold on October 9, 1982 in Rockville, Maryland. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his father.
