ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis County man already in prison for killing an 18-year-old has been given an extra 21 months behind bars for taunting and threatening the victim’s father in a letter.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 21-year-old Travon Lawrence of Black Jack was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing Steven Taylor of Florissant. Eleven days after the sentence, he mailed a letter to Taylor’s father that read, “I got family on the streets that will Kill you …” He signed the letter “Steve Killer” and included a photo of the victim’s body.

Lawrence was indicted in August for the threat and pleaded guilty.

Defense attorney Bobby Bailey says the threats were “lashing out” and not real.

Taylor was fatally shot in November 2014.
