Jason Hiram Hart
1976-2017

Jason Hiram Hart, 41, St. Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away Monday, May 1, 2017.
He was born April 10, 1976 to Dennis and Jeanette (Clardy) Hart in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Jason graduated from Lafayette High School. He later graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Science. He worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Ascend in Leawood, Kansas.
Mr. Hart proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. Mary Parish and Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Angel Hart; children, Isabelle and Isaac Hart; brothers, Christopher Hart (Debbie) and Matthew Hart (Amber); and sister, Melissa Fraley.

Maria Elena Phillips
1969-2017

Maria Elena Phillips, 47, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017.
She was born December 31, 1969 in Florida.
Maria married Billy Wayne Phillips October 31, 2000, he survives of the home.
She most recently worked at APAC, prior to that she bartended at Vitos in Kansas City.
Maria enjoyed riding horses and reading.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie Rogers.
Additional survivors include children, Alexandria and Candace Walker, Zachary Bixby; father, Rudy Rudd, Sr.; sisters, Rachel Rudd, Lynette Sophie, and Michelle Hamlin; brother, Rudy Rudd, Jr.

Gloria Meerpohl

HOLTON – Gloria Meerpohl, 65, of Holton, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

She was born September 3, 1951 at Horton, the daughter of Greg and Evelyn Jeannotte Ramirez. She graduated from Horton High School in 1969. She attended Washburn University for a short time and cosmetology school in Kansas City.

Gloria worked for the Holton School system, first as a teacher’s aide for about five years, and then as a technology assistant for twenty years, retiring in December of 2015.

She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton, the Altar Society at the church and the Holton Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She married Mike Meerpohl on January 7, 1972 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton. He survives, of the home.

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother.

Other survivors include two sons, Brian Meerpohl (Niki), Holton, and Kelly Meerpohl, Topeka; a daughter, Jenny Lancaster (Zach), Holton; her father, Greg Ramirez, Horton; three brothers, Lawrence Ramirez (Leigh), Independence, MO, Steve Ramirez (Carla), Lawrence, and Vincent Ramirez (Stefanie), Casa Grande, AZ; four sisters, Patty Battese (Mitch), Lawrence, Barbara Tucker (Jim), Baldwin City, and Mona Cortez (Chris) and Marlise Wilson (Kenny), all of Horton; and eight grandchildren, Ashtin, Carson and Carter Meerpohl, Daryl and Alex Meerpohl, and Dominic, Bennett and Amelia Lancaster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6th at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Holton. Gloria will lie in state until 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the church with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic Catholic Church, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, 66436.
