Marion R. “Bob” Peterson, Jr.
1927-2017
Marion R. “Bob” Peterson, 89, Clarksdale, Missouri passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at a local healthcare facility.
He was born July 23, 1927 in Bendena, Kansas to Marion, Sr. and Cora Peterson.
Marion married Florence Schneider on March 19, 1948; they were married for 69 years.
He was a lifelong crop and dairy farmer.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jerry and Melvin Lee; brother, Chris; sisters Mary Vavra and Rose Shifflett.
Survivors include wife, Florence; son, Larry Peterson (Teggy), Clarksdale, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Elwood J. “Skeeter” Chilson
1936-2017
HOYT – Elwood J. “Skeeter” Chilson, 80, of Hoyt, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home.
He was born November 2, 1936 at McPherson, the son of Jerrold and Elsie Beuhler Chilson. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1955 to 1958.
Skeeter was a welder by trade, having worked for various companies.
He married Cindy Myers on July 16, 1980 at Salina. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors a son, Nathaniel “Nate” (Kathy) Chilson, Arlington, KS and a daughter, Dawn (Quentin) Moeder, Topeka.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society, and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt, P.O. Box 280, Hoyt, KS 66440
Larry Wilkening
1937-2017
MAYETTA – Larry Wilkening, 80, of Mayetta, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
He was born April 4, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Lucille Wilkening.
Larry had worked at various jobs before joining the police department in Elmhurst, IL. After moving to Kansas he worked at several different places before starting with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, where he became Corrections Captain at the jail. He had taken a law enforcement class at Washburn University.
He married Elizabeth Ann Heath on May 8, 1970 in Illinois. She survives, of the home.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
Other survivors include two sisters, Linda Hough, Elmhurst, IL, and Lisa Ramos, Lombard, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23rd at the Potawatomi United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery. Larry will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. Monday until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt where family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, PO Box 280, Hoyt, 66440.
Jerliyah Y-Eair Ford

Jerliyah Y-Eair Ford was born and passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
Survivors include her parents, Jer Orlando Ford II and Jaliyah Take-Y Wash; grandmothers, Debbie Brown and Traci Wash.
Even though she was only here for a short while, she will be in our hearts forever.

Grace L. Hull
1928-2017
Troy, Kansas – Grace L. (Wiedmer) Hull, 89, of Troy, Kansas passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at her home.
Born in rural Troy on April 14, 1928, Grace lived in the Troy community her entire life. She was a graduate of Troy High School, was a member of the former Burr Oak Baptist Church, and later attended the First Baptist Church of Troy.
Mrs. Hull had been employed several years as the Deputy Clerk of the District Court in Troy before later becoming a full-time homemaker.
On May 13, 1951 she married Hillman Hull. He survives of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alvera (Laipple) Wiedmer; three brothers, Albert, Charles, and Hubert Wiedmer; and four sisters, Estella Brenner, Scevilla Burroughs, Gwendoline Elliott, and Bernice Edwards.
Additional survivors: Son, David Hull of Troy, Kansas;
Daughter, Pamela Pickerell (Jim) of Troy, Kansas;
Grandchildren, Jared Pickerell of Troy, Kansas;
Jena Williams (Tyler) of Hiawatha, Kansas;
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Janice Louise Wykert Bontrager passed away on Wednesday, January 4th, 2017. She was born on October 4th, 1935 in Hoyt, Kansas. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Bontrager, Charlotte, NC, and her four children, Mark(Cathy), Arlington, VA, Kim (Mike), Charlotte, NC, Cathey(Harwell), Pinehurst, NC, and Kristy (Steve), Leawood, KS, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hoyt Cemetery on Friday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. A reception at the Hoyt Community Center will be held immediately following the Service.
