Herman R Kuhnert
1924-2017

Herman R. Kuhnert, 92 of Temple, TX died Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX.
Memorial services will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS with Rev. Ben Ockree, Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, at the funeral home. Herman was born on April 19, 1924 in Bendena, KS, to Herman L. and Moretta (Spencer) Kuhnert. He married Irene Reder on September 6, 1943 in Bakersfield, CA while Mr. Kuhnert was serving with the 27th Anti-Aircraft Battalion, Ft. Bliss, TX. He was eventually transferred to Camp Irwin, CA and was sent to Europe during World War II and served in England, Holland and Germany. He saw his most intense combat during the Battle of the Bulge in 1943 and 1944. His unit was separated from American Forces behind German lines. He was eventually discharged from U.S. Army in 1946. After returning to civilian life Mr. Kuhnert was employed by Pillsbury Mills in Atchison, KS and eventually purchased a farm in the Spring Grove community in 1950. He started a farming career in the Troy area until 1961. He truly found his calling shortly thereafter and began a sales career in the agriculture and oil business, which he pursued until his retirement in 1978. He was founder and owner of H & B Supply, Inc., in Temple, TX in February 1977. H & B focused on the lubricant and filter market in Texas and eventually expanded to cover the entire state of Texas as well as surrounding states.
He and Irene were married for 42 years until her death in May of 1985. He is survived by a son, Robert Kuhnert of McKinney, and a daughter Linda Fridell, Temple, his grandsons, Michael Sumner and Warren Harmon, granddaughters, Alison Fortson, Amy McGinnis and Laurie Mershon, a niece Patricia (Charles) Begesse, brother-in-law, Alvin Wehking, Atchison, KS and his eleven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, LaVon Barnes and sister Edna Wehking.

Russell “Dean” Horner
1937-2017

Troy, Kansas Russell “Dean” Horner, 79, of Troy, Kansas passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home. Dean was born on September 17, 1937 in Robinson, Kansas to Charles & Daisy (Shaiffer) Horner.

He was a member of the U.S. Air Force, Troy American Legion Post #55 & UTU. Dean retired as a Conductor for the UP Railroad.

Dean married Marilyn Thompson on August 9, 1969. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sandy Goltz, brother, Keith Horner & a sister, Fern Shelton.

William “Bill” Byron Coder
1935-2017


William Coder passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017. He spent
his last days at his ranch in Saint Joseph, surrounded by
family.
William Byron Coder was born in Saint Joseph, MO, to
William L and Rose Harris Coder on March 19, 1935. They
precede him in death, along with sisters Aline Reeder and
Rosemary Klamm, and brothers, Roy Coder and Gary Coder.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Caw
Coder, his son, William Charles Coder, and daughter Cheryl
JoAnn Coder Adams (Terry).
William loved and cherished five grandchildren:
William Justin Adams (Jamie), William Larry Coder,
Christian Charles Coder (Renee), Brook JoAnn Miller
(Brett), Brett Groves Coder (Megan), and 14 great-
grandchildren: Christian Coder, Corbin Adams, Lexi Adams,
Braden Miller, Jackson Coder, Haylee Coder, Brogan Miller,
Breah Miller, Brody Coder, Taegan Adams, Sophie Coder, Levi
Coder, Kinsley Coder, and Jase Coder.
He is also survived by a sister, Sandra Coder, and
brothers Richard Coder (Ruth) and Ronald Coder (Gail).
Above all else, William was devoted to the Lord,
living his life through Christ. William also cared deeply
for his family. He was an extremely caring and loving
husband, and attentive father. He found his greatest joy in
entertaining his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He
built his ranch as a place for his loved ones to congregate
and enjoy being together – fishing, hunting, and listening
to his stories of cowboys, outlaws, and a whole cast of
intriguing characters.
William attended Central High School and was active in
ROTC. He attained the rank of Cadet Colonel over all the
high schools in Saint Joseph. He was also a Gold Coat Club
member of Missouri Western State University.
Upon graduation in 1953, William followed his father
in the homebuilding business, becoming a bricklayer. He and
Joyce married on May 25, 1954 at the RLDS Church in Saint
Joseph. After eight years in construction, William went on
to join the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 2, 1961,
where he served for eight years. He left as a corporal, on
February 28, 1969.
In 1976, William was a founding owner of the Car City
Motor Company, Inc., where he found success in the car
business until he retired from daily operations with the
company in 1998. During that time, he was the Director of
the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association for Northwest
Missouri, and earned numerous accolades from Chrysler.
William was a member of the Saint Joseph Scottish
Rite, the Masonic Saint Joseph Lodge 78, and Moila Shrine
Temple, where he served in the Ambassador Group and the
Mounted Horse Patrol. He also raised Missouri Foxtrotter
horses and Paint horses, and was a member of the Missouri
Foxtrotter Association, a corporate sponsor of Ducks
Unlimited and the Missouri Paint Horse Association.
He was also devoted to many other causes, especially
those who helped children in need, such as St Jude Hospital
for Children, Shrine Temple Hospital for Children, and
Noyes Home for Children in Saint Joseph.

Shirley M. (Crist) Dabler
1935-2017


Shirley M. (Crist) Dabler, 81, Gladstone, Missouri passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home.
She was born June 11, 1935 in Brookfield, Missouri to Lonzo William Watson and Elizabeth Rementa Ross.
Shirley was a cashier at Sack and Save for 26 years.
She enjoyed taking pictures, loved her family and her cats.
Shirley was preceded in death by parents; first husband, Harold “Jim” Crist who passed away in 1993, her second husband, Carroll Dabler who passed away in 2010; son, Lonnie Crist; brothers, Mike Wilson and Jerry Watson; sisters, June Carey and Colleen Gallagher.
Survivors include her children, Randy Crist (Rachel), Jimmie Crist, Cherie Mason, Julie Lemmon (Greg), Joe Crist (Teresa), Roy Crist (Debbie), Linda Becerra, Patty Blair (Bill), Sheila Bringham (Roger), and Sheena Lane; brother, Steve Foltz (Sharon), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Linville Sherman “Linny” Wilkinson IV
1993-2017


Linville Sherman “Linny” Wilkinson IV, 24, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017.
He was born April 20, 1993 to Linville III and Rhonda Wilkinson.
Linville was a graduate of East Buchanan High School with nine years of perfect attendance. He coached basketball in Stewartsville for four years. He was also a member of the FFA for four years. Linville was the Sergeant of Arms for St. Joseph Rollin’ Three’s Motorcycle Club.
He enjoyed drag races and car shows. Linville spent lots of time with family and had a very strong work ethic. He loved his horse, Zeus, and the time they spent together.
Linville was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Vernal Bartley; grandmothers, Marie Wilkinson and Maxine Wilkinson; paternal great grandfather, Linville Sherman Wilkinson, Sr.; maternal great grandfather, Jack Lewis; and favorite uncle, Dion Taylor.
Survivors include his parents; sister, Courtney LaCole Wilkinson, Hemple, Missouri; brother, Dajonn Holland, Kansas City, Missouri; fiancée, Ashley Marie, of the home; paternal grandparents, Linville Sherman Wilkinson Jr., St. Joseph; maternal grandparents, Lawrence Garner (Ollie), Lubbock, Texas, Stella Garner, St. Joseph; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Norma G. Salsberry
1949-2017


Norma G. Salsberry, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home.
She was born January, 15, 1949 to Selby Ambrose and Maxine (Wilson) Myers.
Norma married Mark Salsberry on September 4, 1976.
She was a 1967 graduate of Central High School, then later graduated from Missouri Western State University in 1971 and went on to attend St. Mary’s Hospital School of Medical Technology and received her degree.
Norma was devoted to the Catholic faith and recently became Catholic. She was a wonderful grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Mark S. Salsberry; sons, Travis Salsberry (Julie), Dustin Salsberry (Cassie); grandchildren, Samantha and Simon Salsberry; brothers, Jerry Myers (Patricia), Omaha, Nebraska, Selby Norman Myers (Patricia), Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
