Police investigate after man reportedly shot in midtown area

The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating after a man was admitted to the hospital Thursday morning for treatment of an apparent gunshot wound.

Commander Eric Protzman said officers responded to Mosaic Life Care around 5 a.m. after a 50-year-old St. Joseph man was admitted for treatment of a non life-threatening injury from allegedly getting shot while in the area of 17th and Edmond streets.

Protzman said the man reported he was shot at by suspects, possibly in a dark colored vehicle in the area. The man was transported to the hospital by private vehicle. Little other details were provided.
