One killed, one seriously hurt in crash of fire truck

A northeastern Missouri man was killed and another was seriously hurt when the fire truck they were driving to a call rolled over several times along a state highway in Scotland County.

According to a crash report from Troop B of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jesse Ketchum of Downing, Mo. was driving a 1974 Chevrolet C65 fire truck on Missouri Highway 15, three miles north of Memphis.

At 6:12 pm Monday the vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times, ejecting both occupants. Officials say the pair were responding to a call at the time of the crash, but details of that call were not immediately available.

Ketchum, 33, was killed in the crash. His passenger was identified as John Chancellor, 27, of Downing. Chancellor was flown by helicopter ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri for treatment of serious injuries.
