Homeless man with six prior stealing convictions faces felony charge for allegedly shoplifting food

A St. Joseph man arrested for stealing food from a gas station convenience store is behind bars facing felony charges.

Investigators say Randall Stout, 28, has six prior convictions in ten years for stealing-related offenses, eleven arrests for failure to appear in court, and a lengthy list of other arrests.

He is described in court documents as homeless with family members who live in several other states. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash.

in court documents Stout is accused of putting several food items into his backpack and refusing to give them back when confronted by the owner. Police say the incident happened May 29 at the Imperial station at 811 S. 6th.

Stout is being held in the county jail pending a court appearance June 2 on a class-e felony charge of stealing.
