A St. Joseph man is facing a felony after allegedly driving while intoxicated and injuring several people in the process.
D’Marcqus Dydell is charged in Buchanan County with a class-E felony of DWI physical injury.
According to court documents, Dydell is accused of driving a Silver Nissan Sunday at different locations in St. Joseph at high speeds and failing to obey traffic signs and signals.
“Dydell Crashed the Silver Nissan SUV into two occupied vehicles on the roadway at 2100 Messanie Street while driving at high speeds,” said Officer Brian McClintick with the St. Joseph Police Department. “Dydell caused the injury of three citizens in this crash and then fled the scene on foot.”
McClintick said Dydell was arrested a short tome later in the area of the 400 block of S. 20th Street. Police said the interior of the Nissan smelled of intoxicants and Dydell had a BAC level of .157% during a breath test.
“Dydell is a repeat offender,” McClintick said. “Dydell caused injury to citizens during this criminal act and fled the scene with no care for the life or safety of the injured persons.”
Dydell is currently out on bail. An arraignment has been scheduled for June 13.
